Senior Revenue and General Accountant

Castellan Solutions, a leader in the resilience management consulting and software industry, is adding a Senior Accountant to the team.

Upon joining the team, you will quickly begin working on a full range of accounting functions. The Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Process and analyze customer agreements for proper billing and revenue recognition treatment.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger account balances
  • Support month-end, year-end close process, and assist with annual audit preparations.
  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting policies, programs, and procedures, and perform other accounting duties while supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
  • Research and answer customer questions, perform follow-up procedures (email or phone) to supply additional information and collect unpaid invoices, prepare weekly summary reports on status of invoicing and collections

Qualifications:

  • Experience with SaaS, fixed fee and managed services revenue recognition
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills. Skilled, professional approach for both verbal and written communications.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working to tight deadlines.
  • High comfort with technology — Microsoft Office tools, Salesforce, NetSuite or other advanced GL / ERP. Previous experience in the software and services industry, preferably SaaS
  • Quick learner, organized, and efficient.
  • Can-do attitude and desire to impact the business, while being a team-player.
  • Knowledge and experienced user of NetSuite.
  • Associate Degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Work experience of 3-5 years in an Accounting related role.
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
  • Knowledge and experienced user of MS Office products required.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, strategic, and analytical skills combined with excellent business acumen.
  • Ability to create effective relationships, listen, communicate, influence, and collaborate cross-team at all organizational levels to deliver results.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent execution, and follow through skills.
  • Ability to adapt and change with the needs of the organization and business.
